Metaformers Donations for Shoot for Charity at Alliance 2010

March 8, 2010
McLean, VA

Today Metaformers announced the results and subsequent donations for its Shoot for Charity at the Alliance 2010 conference held in San Antonio, TX from February 27 to March 3.  These donations are a continuation of Metaformers’ program to combine charitable giving with business events. Metaformers decided to forgo giving away the usual conference promotional items and asked conference attendees to shoot baskets to vote for their favorite charities.

Metaformers started with six charities in a preconference vote and asked attendees to select the three finalist charities they wanted to shoot for at the conference. Conference attendees sent in their votes and determined that The American Heart Association, Make-A-Wish, and Susan G. Komen for the Cure would go on to the final round of conference voting.

At the conference Metaformers had attendees play Wii Basketball Shootout; they 60 seconds to make as many baskets as possible. Attendees scored anywhere from a low score of one point to a high score of 23 points. Once their score was determined, they were instructed to donate their points to the charity of their choice.  Many people had stories to tell about their connection to one or more of the organizations and how they touched the lives of loved ones. It struck a chord with many people that in a difficult year it is still urgently important to support others.

Based on the votes in the Shoot for Charity, Metaformers contributed the first place donation to Make-A-Wish, the second place donation to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and third place to The American Heart Association.
