Metaformers Inc. today announced the winners for its Charity Poker Showdown at the Alliance 2008 Conference in Las Vegas. Following a “how-to” Texas Hold ’Em session by poker celebrity Robert W. Thompson II to a packed house, guests of all levels of play from novices to experts were invited to compete tournament-style for $1750 in prizes for their favorite charities.

Donations were made this week in the name of each of the top three winners to the charities of their choice.

Tournament Champion Nancy Collins chose the Vermont Philharmonic in Montpelier, VT to receive a donation of $1000 in her name.

Second place winner Maria Theresa Chao chose Coast Hills Community Church in Aliso Viejo, CA to receive a donation of $500 in her name.

Third place winner Gregory Macway chose Rabbit Haven, Cavy House in Scotts Valley, CA to receive a donation of $250 in his name.

Metaformers marked the Alliance 2008 Charity Poker Showdown a tremendous success.  Metaformers President Ed Bouryng, a first-time poker tournament player himself, added “With every participant playing for a good cause, the atmosphere was collegiate and fun. I believe all had a great time and a memorable experience, despite the majority being first time players.  This was a total success and we’ll do this again. My thanks to all involved and my congratulations to the three final table champions and their charities.”
