From TMCNet: Los Angeles Selects Metaformers for Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise 9.0 Upgrade by Tim Gray:

The City of Los Angeles has chosen Metaformers to upgrade its PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management solution to version 9.0. The upgrade is expected to b completed in September and will make Los Angeles the largest city in North America running PeopleSoft Enterprise 9.0 for financial management.

“Metaformers was chosen as a partner with the City of Los Angeles to upgrade our PeopleSoft Enterprise Procurement system. They were chosen based not only on their technical expertise, but also their business process and functional knowledge. They bring a wealth of experience as well as best practices,” said Randi Levin, CIO for the City of Los Angeles.

The City of Los Angeles Department of General Services currently uses PeopleSoft Enterprise Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Financial Management for its Supply Management System (SMS), which handles procure-to-pay functions for all departments controlled by the city council.

“The upgrade to PeopleSoft Enterprise 9.0 will help Los Angeles streamline its business processes, improve efficiency and move away from customized modules towards field-tested best practices,” said Ed Bouryng, president of Metaformers.

This system has more than 2,000 users who manage over $500 million in spending and more than 10,000 suppliers. The system initially went live in 2001 on version 7.5 and was upgraded to version 8.8 in May 2005, according to the company.

Angeles first approached Metaformers in 2006 to address critical issues arising from the PeopleSoft Enterprise 8.8 upgrade. “Within a few days of coming on board, Metaformers had given us the answers to our PeopleSoft issues that other firms had been unable to provide for months,” said Deborah Ramos, assistant general manager, Department of general services of Los Angeles.

Following that initial assessment and recommendation for resolution, Metaformers assisted the city with year-end-close support and a full pre-encumbrance and encumbrance data reconciliation effort that successfully went live for the fiscal year 2007 year end.

Throughout that effort, Metaformers worked with the city’s executive team to establish the right long-term path to maximize the city’s return on its PeopleSoft investment. The City determined that an upgrade toOracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise 9.0 would help maximize ROI and best satisfy requirements for capturing encumbrance activity within the general ledger.
